Everything a trip needs, in one place

The spec sheet: every module in detail, from the first “we should do a trip” to settling up afterwards.

01

Decide together, not in a group chat

Every idea — a restaurant, a museum day, an Airbnb — becomes a proposal the group votes and comments on. Organizers lock in winners; lodging proposals count who's actually staying with one tap.

  • Lodging and Activity proposals, each with place search and a map pin
  • One tap on a lodging proposal counts you in — “I'd stay here”
  • Organizers decide; winners land on the shared calendar automatically
  • Open proposals can be deleted by their suggester or the trip owner

02

Date-finding that ends the doodle-poll era

Set a rough window, everyone marks their free days, and the best overlap surfaces on its own — with a straight answer about who a date range would leave out, before anyone books anything.

  • Everyone marks their free days once — no reply-all thread
  • The best overlaps rank themselves, with a count of who each range leaves out
  • Locking the dates tidies the whole section away for good

03

A calendar the whole trip lives on

Decisions, flights, check-ins, and check-outs land on one shared calendar with overlap warnings — month grid or day-by-day, and subscribable from Google or Apple Calendar.

  • Month grid and day-by-day views of the same plan
  • Flights, check-ins, and check-outs are placed for you
  • Clashing plans get an overlap warning before they collide in person
  • Subscribe once from Google or Apple Calendar — it stays current

04

Logistics without the spreadsheet

Everyone logs how they're arriving. Join a friend's flight or train with a tap. Drivers offer spare seats, pick passengers, and see exactly who still needs a ride.

  • Flight, train, drive, or other — the form adapts to each
  • Join someone's flight or train with one tap: “Same Flight”
  • Drivers set a seat cap; when the car's full, it says so — and means it
  • A “Needs a Ride” list shows who's still unaccounted for

05

Money, settled

Log expenses as they happen and split them across whoever took part. Balances update live, and settle-up computes the fewest payments that make everyone whole.

  • Anyone logs an expense and picks who's in — split to the cent
  • Balances stay live for the whole trip, visible to everyone
  • Settle-up computes the fewest payments that zero everyone out
  • The payer or an organizer can edit or delete any expense

06

Chat where the plan is

A trip-wide chat lives next to the plan it's about, with the latest messages surfaced on the overview and notifications each person tunes themselves.

  • One thread per trip — the talk and the plan share an address
  • The latest messages surface on the trip overview
  • Notifications are tuned by each person, not blasted at the group

07

The whole trip on a map

Stays, proposals, and locked plans pinned together, filterable by day — with travel times from every stay, so “how far is that?” answers itself.

  • Stays, proposals, and locked plans pinned on one map
  • Filter the pins by trip day
  • Travel times from every stay, so “how far is that?” answers itself

Questions, answered

The short version

Is it free?
Yes — Slothing is free for everyone on the trip. Some outbound booking links are affiliate links; they never change what you pay.
Do my friends need to sign up?
They join from a single invite link — two taps and they're on the trip, voting and marking dates. No app to download.
Does it work on phones?
Slothing is built mobile-first and runs in the browser — nothing to install. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app.
Who controls what?
Anyone can propose, vote, comment, and log their own travel and expenses. Organizers lock dates and decisions, and a proposal can be deleted by whoever suggested it — or the trip owner.
We already half-planned our trip. Too late?
No — nothing is gated. Skip the phases you've done, add what's already decided, and use Slothing for the rest.
